Getting Involved with PennACE

 

The members of PennACE are encouraged to become involved in the organization by running for Executive Board positions or by volunteering for a standing committee.

2018 Executive Board Nominations

 

EXECUTIVE BOARD POSITIONS

Serving on the Board is a fantastic opportunity to gain leadership experience and develop professionally.

Presidentthree-year term, beginning with the first year as President-Elect/VP, the second year as President and the third year as Past-President

President-Elect/VPthree-year term, beginning with the first year as President-Elect/VP, the second year as President and the third year as Past-President, elected annually

Past-President: three-year term, beginning with the first year as President-Elect/VP, the second year as President and the third year as Past-President

Secretary: two-year term, up for re-election in the spring of 2018

Treasurer: two-year term, up for re-election in the spring of 2019

Communication Chair: two-year term, up for re-election in the spring of 2019

Marketing & Public Relations Chair:  two-year term, up for re-election in Spring 2018

Membership Chair: two-year term, up for re-election in the spring of 2018

Members-at-Large (5): two-year terms

  • Member-at-Large: Student of the Year and Member-at-Large: Grants are up for re-election in the spring of 2018
  • Member-at-Large: Government Relations and Member-at-Large: Professional Development are up for re-election in the spring of 2019
  • Member-at-Large:  Employer Relations is due up for re-election in the spring 2019

2018 EXECUTIVE BOARD NOMINATION FORM - due April 6th 

The Executive Board meets three to four times per year, including the annual conference, or as directed by the President.

STANDING COMMITTEES

If you're new to PennACE but would like to get involved, we recommend volunteering for one of the PennACE Standing Committees.

Annual Conference Committee

  • Coordinates annual conference site, speakers, hospitality, meals, and room arrangements.
  • Determines conference fees and coordinates registration.
  • Notifies membership of conference via listserv and newsletter; notifies potential members through emailing or emails.
  • Conducts evaluation of the conference as appropriate.
  • Works with the Communication Chair to update conference information and registration forms on website.

JoAnne Day Student of the Year Award Committee

  • Notifies members of award criteria and process for selection of award winners.
  • Collects and reviews nominations and selects winners in each category.
  • Notifies award recipients and works with Treasurer to make financial award.
  • Notifies all nominees of selection status.
  • Works with Communication Chair to publicize winners.

Grants Committee

  • Determines timeline and adjusts Requests for Proposals as needed.
  • Notifies members of Requests for Proposals and the process for selection of grant recipients.
  • Collects and reviews proposals and selects winners and level of funding.
  • Notifies grant recipients and works with Treasurer to make financial award.
  • Works with Communication Chair to publicize grant recipients and for project write-ups in newsletter.
  • Coordinates the presentation of projects for the "Best Practices" showcase at the annual conference.
Government Committee
  • Identifies individuals within state government with whom to communicate.
  • Provides state government officials with appropriate information and data concerning job and internship issues.
  • Learns what state job and internship initiatives are being planned and implemented.
  • Serves as an advocate for PennACE to state government officials.
Professional Development Committee
  • Identifies and seeks to cooperate and establish partnerships with other professional associations, consortia, and groups working in PA in similar issues as PennACE.
  • Explores opportunities to provide professional development activities for PennACE members.
  • Identifies professional development topic(s), contact presenter(s), coordinate logistics related to site, handles marketing, and facilitates activites on-site for each professional development program.
  • Develops timeline for planning and implementation process.
  • Collaborates with Communications Chair to market event and establish online registration.
