Subject :Assistant/Associate Director for CIT Graduate Students, Career Center, Carnegie Mellon Univ.

Carnegie Mellon University - Pittsburgh, PA

The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) and College of Engineering (CIT) is hiring two Directors/Career Consultants, one at the Assistant Director and one at the Associate Director level. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated top performer with higher education and/or industry experience to leverage knowledge in a new and unique role within one of the most respected schools in the world.

The Associate/Assistant Director for CIT graduate students will focus on career development for master level candidates. These positions are new, hybrid roles between CIT and the CPDC, allowing for the opportunity to be mobile on and off-campus, meeting the students where they spend their time, and to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. The ability to build and grow relationships, not only with students, but with department heads, graduate coordinators, and employers will be vital in these newly defined roles. CMU and CIT retain a robust international student population, so cultural sensitivity and competencies are essential to these positions. The expectation to develop new recruiting relationships (consortia, employers, etc.) and expand existing ones will allow these Associate/Assistant Directors to create a holistic career program.

The Associate Director position will retain all responsibilities of the Assistant Director position, but in addition will:
•Develop strategy for working with master level candidates, with special attention to developing strategies for the international master level candidates.
•Supervise at least one Assistant Director (with future potential for more supervision)
•Act as the primary point of contact for specific departments within CIT

Candidates will be considered for these positions and will ultimately be offered the appropriate job title based on his/her personal qualifications, including education and experience. Candidates with prior staff supervisory experience will be given priority consideration for the Associate Director position, as this role will supervise at least one Assistant Director.

Priority consideration will be given for applications received by September 15, 2014. Review of candidates will begin immediately and will continue until an appointment is made.
