Penn State World Campus is accepting applications for a full-time Career Counselor/Coach (Career Counselor 3) to provide career counseling and coaching services to undergraduate and graduate adult online learners studying via Penn State World Campus from locations situated locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally. The Career Counselor/Coach will aid online learners with career exploration and planning, resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, internship/job search plans and strategies, and graduate/professional school program selection and application processes. Other specific duties include: development and delivery of career/life education and outreach programs as well as collaboration with faculty members from various academic colleges and departments. May also teach an online course or facilitate webinars for students on various career topics; will maintain case notes that track student progress, assessment results, and counseling goals, while ensuring confidentiality. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counseling or related discipline or higher plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Distance service delivery experience preferred. Demonstrated experience using technology and online communication platforms including career management systems also preferred. The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills and organizational ability, communicate clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing (including the development and delivery of materials for online presentations and webinars), and the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff of diverse cultural backgrounds. The successful candidate should also demonstrate initiative, high energy, and an ability to work in a fluid environment with shifting priorities. This position will be physically located at University Park, PA (State College, PA). This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding.
