Assistant Director - Career Center

Under the direction of the Career Center Director, responsibilities include providing services and programs that support student and alumni success and enrich the experiences of individuals as they plan their careers and pursue employment or further educational opportunities. Programs may include, depending on needs and priorities, career exploration and planning seminars, workshops and forums, special recruitment events such as employer recruitment days and information sessions, etiquette dinners, networking opportunities, etc. Provide career coaching, career information, career assessment, and other services related to career planning, job search, and graduate school preparation. Coordinate student usage and maintenance of technologies associated with career development and planning including but not limited to Mountie Career Connection (Symplicity CSM), FOCUS, and department website. Supervise student workers, interns, and/or graduate assistants. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Student Services, Leadership, Communication, or related field, two years programming experience including special events, and completion of a successful interview.

Additional Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience creating and presenting interactive workshops; familiarity with developing assessment instruments and conducting assessment for internal use; problem solving and decision making skills; must have ability to work independently; excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to initiate and direct programs; excellent supervisory skills; and the ability to communicate well with others. Demonstration, through past accomplishments and behaviors, of the ability to support Mansfield University’s principles and values of Character, Scholarship, Culture, Service ( and the University’s strong student-centered vision and mission.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in student affairs in higher education or related field and career development experience.

Other Conditions of Employment:
Verification of all earned degrees through the receipt of original transcripts, an acceptable background check report, and positive references.

Essential Functions:
Must work cooperatively with various constituencies including alumni, administrators, faculty, staff, community members and students. Effective use of interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Must work independently and as a team player. Must effectively prioritize work with attention to detail and follow through in a fast-paced environment. Ability to manage a variety of administrative processes and work from the planning phase to completion. Perform computer functions such as word processing, email, and spreadsheet; effective use of phone, keyboard and other office equipment; use of visual, auditory and speaking skills. Must have the ability to work occasional evening and weekend hours. May be required to lift, stand, walk, reach with arms, kneel, stoop, etc.

Salary Starting salary in accordance with the SCUPA Collective Bargaining Agreement for SUA I ($19,413/yr - $19.85/hr).
