Penn State Mont Alto seeks a full-time Career Counselor to coordinate comprehensive career services, internships, and service learning opportunities. The successful candidate will be adept at assisting students with all aspects of career exploration and development including the development of effective career-educational plans, administering and interpreting assessment instruments, and referring students to additional resources. Responsibilities include reviewing resumes, cover letters and other job search materials; planning, coordinating and presenting educational programs; maintaining the office’s website and social media presence; and marketing and outreach to students, employers, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders. Other work activities include consultation and liaison with faculty and employers to identify employment, internship and service learning opportunities for students; providing services and programs that introduce students to the skills needed to conduct job and internship searches or to pursue plans for further education; monitoring web-based resources such as Nittany Lion Career Network; compiling data, preparing reports and conducting assessments. May also teach a career development course. Candidates should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and organizational ability, prompt follow-through, writing proficiency, initiative, high energy, attention to detail, ability to work as part of a team, and an ability to work in a fluid environment with shifting priorities. Data management, budget experience and career software experience are also preferred. Candidates should possess the ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counseling or related discipline plus three years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from date of hire with excellent possibility of re-funding. Apply online at
