Special Assistant for Professional U

Position Description:
Reporting to the assistant vice president for alumni and professional engagement, the incumbent will provide leadership, program delivery, and client consultation to support the mission of Professional U. Professional U is a strategic, campus-wide initiative designed to prepare students for personal and professional success. The mission of Professional U is a career experience for every student, each year, until graduation. The special assistant will be responsible for meeting with students and faculty to facilitate awareness of, and participation in, professional development and career experience activities and events. To accomplish this objective, the special assistant is expected to initiate and facilitate relationships with multiple constituencies. Key points of contact include, but are not limited to, alumni, admissions, new student orientation, academic departmental meetings, student organization meetings, academic advisement, and academic achievement. The special assistant is charged with enhancing existing and creating new programs by researching best practices and studying programs at other universities.

Full time temporary, 12-month position beginning approximately June 15, 2015.
Salary is commensurate with experience; excellent benefit package.

Qualifications:

Requirements for the Position
Bachelor’s degree required
Master’s degree preferred.

Preferred knowledge, skills and abilities:
Demonstrated project coordination experience. Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external constituents. Proficiency in incorporating the use of technology to achieve desired goals, objectives and outcomes. Ability to research, write and conduct presentations to advance strategic goals. Ability to manage people and programs and develop strategies to achieve desired goals with measured results. Ability to advise/coach students toward professional goals and objectives. Demonstrated ability and commitment to work with diverse populations.
