The Assistant Director for Professional Development is responsible for creating and implementing professional development programming and innovative resources for the Smeal College of Business’ undergraduate population. This position also oversees the marketing and internal PR efforts for the unit. Additionally, the position supervises two full-time staff members--the Smeal Student Organizations Manager who supports student leaders by developing leadership training programming and a Career Coach dedicated to facilitating career development with students who began their studies at a Commonwealth Campus. This job will be filled as a level 1, or level 2, depending upon the successful candidate's competencies, education, and experience. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level 1. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher level jobs. Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree and those who possess excellent customer service, communication skills (both verbal and written), and those who display initiative, self-motivation and delivery of high quality work while, at the same time, meeting all deadlines for both internal and external customers. Successful candidates will be highly motivated and initiative-driven with experience in implementing quality programming for undergraduate students, effectively marketing to the target population, and leading job search skills and leadership development opportunities. They will need to be conscientious and detail-oriented, have the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines, and demonstrate a genuine appreciation in working with diverse audiences in a team environment. Qualified candidates will have a background in career coaching or counseling and/or leadership development. Requires excellent computer (PC) skills including MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher and Excel.
