The Alumni Career Services Director, reporting to the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations, designs and provides comprehensive career development services to Smeal College of Business alumni, including over 85,000 undergraduate and graduate alumni globally. The Alumni Career Services Director is responsible to develop a strategic plan and progressive initiatives for the program and team. Will be responsible for providing direction and coaching to Smeal alumni on various areas of professional development, including career transition and career advancement. Conduct individual career consultations, via one to one personal meetings on campus when possible, but also via phone and online consultations. Conduct career workshops and webinars covering a broad range of career development topics, including workshops at and in conjunction with some of the college’s alumni networking events and with the college’s regional alumni chapters. Coordinate requests from recruiters to promote job opportunities to Smeal alumni. Develop content for a portion of the alumni relations website dedicated to career development services, including Smeal’s online networking community. Work with the Alumni Relations and Development team to create and maintain relationships with alumni in the business industry. In addition this role will serve as a liaison to Smeal’s Career and Corporate Connections office, MBA Career Services, and Executive MBA Career Services. Collaborate with Penn State’s Director of Alumni Career Services on University-wide initiatives. Supervise two full-time and one part-time staff member. A successful candidate must be highly organized, adhere to precise deadlines with attentiveness to detail, possess excellent interpersonal skills and write and communicate effectively. Must demonstrate ability to work collaboratively in a team with development and alumni relations responsibilities. Experience developing and conducting career development workshops is also preferred. Typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher plus six years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Master’s degree preferred plus related experience in career coaching, human resources, business, or other relevant field. The position requires flexibility, tact, confidence, and strong instincts for protocol and etiquette. Candidates should have a proven ability to self-motivate and work both independently and as part of a team; a passion for higher education and an understanding of complex institutions; and an appreciation for and understanding of diverse audiences and communities. Occasional travel and evening and weekend work is required. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
