East Stroudsburg University currently seeks a dynamic team member to serve as a Career Advisor within the Career Development Center. As part of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education, ESU offers competitive salaries and excellent benefits.

Job Duties:

This individual works within the Career Development Center under the direct supervision of the Director and provides career counseling, career information, career assessment, information resources, and other services related to career planning, job searching, and graduate school preparation.

Participates in student, faculty, parent workshops and orientation.

Works with the Director in planning and implementing strong external employer and alumni network relationships.

Technology proficient to manage database migrations and system administration.

Maintains active membership in professional organizations in order to keep abreast of current trends in counseling, student career needs, and potential job markets.

Hosts campus visits of various groups and individuals from the surrounding community.

Contribute to grant-funded projects for career enhancement.

Serve on University committees.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree is required. A minimum of one year experience in career counseling, employer relations or human resources in higher education is required. Candidate must demonstrate abilities such as career counseling, building rapport with students, faculty, and employers, strong verbal and written communication skills, customer service, computer skills and initiative. Or, an equivalent combination of experience and training.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in counseling, college student affairs, or education preferred. Experience in Career Development. In depth knowledge of counseling and career development theories and techniques; individual and group counseling; skills to assist individuals with career decision and development; current knowledge of employment and career planning; knowledge of alternative approaches to career development and planning needs for special populations. Knowledge and understanding of the value of diversity. An established network of local and statewide contacts is very helpful, as in experience advocating on behalf of the university and our students. Expertise in state-of-the-art technology, web services, and social media. Technology proficient to manage database migrations and system administration.

Work Hours:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Occasional evenings and weekends.

Annual Salary:

$1,488.75 Bi-weekly. Final selection will be based upon a successful interview and background check. All candidates must furnish proof of eligibility to work in the U.S. at the time of employment. Reimbursement for interview and relocation expenses are not available for this position.
