Job Summary
The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a centralized career center staffed by a team of 25 enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly-educated professionals who orchestrate the career exploration, experiential learning, and career networking needs of students and alumni. The CPDC empowers students and alumni to optimize their professional and life potential through career exploration, experiential learning, and connections with employers and opportunities.

We are looking for an Assistant Director/Career Consultant to work with undergraduate and graduate students within Dietrich College at CMU. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated top performer with higher education and/or industry experience to demonstrate knowledge in a unique role within one of the most respected schools in the world.

You will focus on career development initiatives for students within specific departments (English, History, Modern Languages, Philosophy, and Psychology) and Institute for Politics and Strategy within the college. The connected culture between the CPDC and Dietrich College allows the opportunity to collaborate between the academic and career realms, be mobile on and off-campus, meeting the students where they spend their time, and to work independently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You should demonstrate the ability to build and grow relationships, not only with students, but with department heads, academic coordinators, faculty, and employers. CMU retains a diverse student population, so cultural sensitivity and competencies are essential to this role.

Qualifications
• Master's Degree in related field (i.e. College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling) or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid Driver's License
• Minimum Two (2) years full-time, post-masters experience in career counseling in a university setting, three (3) or more years preferred
• Experience working with students from a humanities, social sciences, or liberal arts background preferred
• Demonstrated presentation skills to various audience sizes and levels (students, parents, faculty, alumni, etc.)
