POSITION: Internship Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Career Development Center

REPORTS TO: Director of Career Development

•Capable of demonstrating the implementation of effective marketing strategies
•Exhibit excellent event planning and decision-making skills and exercise independent judgment on a daily basis
•Must be highly organized and detail-oriented; possess excellent communication skills; and be a proficient user of Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint)
•Baccalaureate degree required
•Knowledge of higher education policies/procedures preferred
•Experience working in a Career Development setting preferred
•Ability to understand and interpret policy and regulations
•Ability to adapt quickly and be flexible to changes

•Successfully manage the coordination of internships and job opportunities and schedule follow-up meetings with students, faculty and employers.
•Function as the professional lead contact for students, faculty, and employers regarding opportunities.
•Meet with faculty to discuss internships and internship requirements per major.
•Write and update internship policies for students and employers, and ensure internships are in compliance with government regulations.
•Assist with planning of internship fairs, workshops, special events, and conduct marketing to promote these events.
•Participate in Career Development Center weekly staff meetings and contribute items to the weekly reports.
•Provide consistent communication with career counselors in identifying and connecting their students with opportunities.
•Manage the internship process by using the Handshake software.
•Receive and screen internship and job requests from area employers.
•Post internship and job announcements on various bulletin boards, social media sites, and the Handshake website.
•Generate various documents and resources, such as an “Internship Sites Sample List,” “Student FAQ’s,” etc.
•Inform career counselors, academic advisors, and department chairs of internship opportunities for students.
•Maintain a database that tracks the number of students completing internships.
•Join and maintain membership to the National Society for Internships and Experiential Education organization for research and information sharing purposes.
•Conduct site visits and attend employer meetings.
•Outreach to new employers to develop opportunities for students.
•Promote Career Development awareness to students and alumni.
•Write an annual comprehensive report regarding internships and experiential learning with statistical information for reporting purposes.
•Collaborate with Alumni Affairs to connect with alumni who are looking for Point Park interns.
•Create an internship award program to recognize students completing internships.
•Develop and present various workshops and classroom presentations pertaining to internships, such as “The Importance of Internships,” “How to Secure an Internship,” etc.
•Conduct surveys and focus groups to gather data.
•Attend open houses and new student orientation sessions to promote Career Development to prospective and incoming students.
•Other duties as assigned.
