The Career and Professional Development Center (CPDC) at Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) is a centralized career center staffed by a team of 25 enthusiastic, dedicated, and highly-educated professionals who orchestrate the career exploration, experiential learning, and career networking needs of students and alumni. The CPDC empowers students and alumni to optimize their professional and life potential through career exploration, experiential learning, and connections with employers and opportunities.


We are looking for an Experiential Learning Coordinator to manage the Career Peer Mentor (CPM)/first year program. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated team player to take on a unique role within one of the most respected schools in the world. You will be responsible for a variety of duties, including proposing yearly CPM programming budget, hiring and training students; assist with CPDC early career engagement programs and opportunities for students; provide counseling to students as part of CPDC 101 and Take a Tartan To Work; serve as technology lead for Experiential Learning team, including Handshake and social media presence.


Core responsibilities include:
•Management and coordination of the Career Peer Mentor (CPM)/first year program. This includes student hiring and training, supervising CPM’s and lead career peer mentor, working with CPM’s on social media projects, ensuring that program expectations are met, and compiling and maintaining reports and statistics. Partner with Residence Life staff and Housefellows for first year career-related programs and events in residence halls.
•Providing program support to Associate Director of Experiential Learning as necessary. This includes assisting with the Jumpstart Networking Event, Take a Tartan to Work and Tartan Talks, and serve as back-up to Associate Director for the Student Employment Program, when necessary. Partner with Associate Director to create and manage early career engagement programs and opportunities for students.
•Career Counseling appointments with students as part of CPDC early engagement efforts to introduce CPDC programs and resources, resume reviews, professional correspondence and social media tips, and internship search resources. Meet with students participating in job shadowing and informational interview opportunities.
•Coordinating the Internship Showcase program. This includes submitting a budget proposal, performing tasks related to maintenance of the program database and the background administration of the program such as all correspondence with student participants as well as record keeping, and compiling reports and statistics.
•Acting as a technology Lead for Experiential Learning team programs and systems, including Handshake and social media.
•Participating in professional development, team meetings, and other duties as assigned in service to the broader Carnegie Mellon community through committee work, etc.
•Performing miscellaneous duties as necessary as part of the Experiential Learning Team and the Early Engagement program.

Qualifications
•High school degree or equivalent required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
•Minimum 3-5 years of relevant administrative or program coordination experience
•Prior experience in a higher education environment preferred
