NATURE OF WORK:

The Associate Director, Alumni Career Networks is a new position and will report to the Director, Alumni Relations and is a member of the Alumni Engagement team whose purpose is to create opportunities for alumni to foster lifelong engagement, affinity and pride within the Duquesne community to further the mission of the University. The Associate Director is specifically responsible for planning and implementing programs and initiatives involved with engaging alumni for the purpose of career preparedness and placement for current and graduated students (both internships and jobs).

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
•Works with the Provost, Deans and Director of Career Services to determine key priorities, programs/schools/regions for emphasis of efforts related to career placement and internship opportunities;
•Collaborates with academic advisors, faculty and other program staff to assist with alumni and student career connections;
•Develops resources and programs for alumni and students related to career change and professional development (networking events, online resources, company events/visits, etc.);
•Manages and assigns work to a student intern;
•Serves as primary manager of an alumni & student networking and mentor platform;
•Develops marketing plan to promote to alumni both the networking platform and how to post internship and job postings;
•Develops marketing plan to promote to students the networking and mentor platform;
•Serves as primary liaison to the Office of Career Services;
•Develops and manages activities of assigned regional alumni chapter(s);
•Attends and participates in various alumni engagement events.

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:

The successful candidate will have earned a bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and have 5-7 years' experience in alumni relations, career services, corporate recruiting, career coaching or related work. Any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions is acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: knowledge of career and internship placement processes, event planning, project/program management, and student supervision; strong verbal and written skills; organizational and time management skills; ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products; ability to develop interactive online resources and webinars; excellent proficiency with email, internet, and social media; ability to be fiscally responsible with budgeted resources; ability to travel, sometimes for multiple days; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University officials, staff, students and parents; Sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission of the University specifically. Applicants must also be willing to contribute actively to the University Mission and to respect the Spiritan Catholic identity of Duquesne University.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position requires working some nights and weekends. It requires the ability to travel and enter facilities which may not be ADA compliant. Ability to carry items weighing 5-25 lbs. and stand for 2-4 hours at a time.
