Kenton Filipowicz, Lock Haven University
- Kenton Filipowicz is a senior at Lock Haven University majoring in Communication with a concentration in Electronic Media. Kenton's internship took place with Concept Commandos, LLC in State College, PA during the summer of 2011. During his time at Concept Commandos, Kenton served as a Videographer Intern and was responsible for various video and website design projects. His responsibilities ranged from filming footage for an online virtual tour to producting a full-length commercial. Kenton provided design work for a variety of clients including Robbins Paradise Ranch, Communities that Care, and the Millennium Dance Company in New York City. Kenton's employer sponsor noted the following: "Throughout his entire internship this past summer of 2011, Kenton proved himself to be dedicated, hard working, dependable, and knowledgeable in his field."
Kenton keeps himself busy at Lock Haven University where he serves as president of the campus television production club, has his own radio show, and writes for the campus newspaper. In addition, Kenton provides video work for the college's women's lacrosse team as well as high school athletes compiling college sports recruiting videos.

Hana Yasaki, Grove City College
- Hana Yasaki, a senior at Grove City College, is working towards a degree in Psychology with a minor in Family Studies. Hana's internship took place during the summer of 2011 with The Make-A-Wish Foundation in Cleveland, OH where she served as a Wish Program Intern. As a Wish Program Intern, Hana's responsibilities for the summer included: managing wish referrals; coordinating specific wishes for families; obtaining new wish resources; and developing and maintaining relationships with vendors, donors, doctors, families, case workers, volunteers, etc. This summer, Hana was able to secure over $9,000 in donations for the foundation. In addition, she worked on a specific wish that had never been done before: building a community BMX bike park. Hana worked with various individuals in the community including the mayor, local businesses, and an international bike park designer to make this wish a reality for one young boy. Hana's employer sponsor noted that Hana "exhibited professionalism and commitment to our foundation and the children that we serve. She met each challenge that we presented with a positive attitude and her work was exemplary".
At Grove City College, Hana has been actively involved with Homecoming Committee, Orientation Board, Parent's Weekend, and Project Okello (raises awareness and financial support for the rehabilitation of recovered child-soldiers in Uganda). Hana also serves as the Family Relationships & Rural Community Coordinator for a service-learning collaboration, Teaching Assistant for the Art Department, and Student Photographer for the Marketing & Communications Department.
Technical Category Winner
Zachary Robinson, Penn State University
- Zachary Robinson is a senior at Penn State University and is double majoring in Mathematics and Physics. Zachary held a co-op from May-August 2010 and from January-August 2011 as a Software Developer and Analyst with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in McLean, VA. Initially, Zachary worked as part of SAIC's Missile Defense Feasibility Study team supporting NATO and created several visualization tools to assist with analysis. He also supported numerous other projects, including capability analysis for the Air Force and Internal Research and Development. In addition to the in-depth research Zachary performed throughout this experience, he also led his fellow interns on various service projects including clean-up effort for the 2010 BP Oil Spill and volunteering through Habitat for Humanity. Zachary's employer sponsor noted the following, "Zachary's contributions were at a level much greater than normally expected from an intern or even a newly hired graduate. The tools he developed will be utilized by our analysts and our customer, making our efforts more efficient and helping position SAIC for future efforts."
Zachary's involvement at Penn State University includes serving as a Tutor Coordinator as well as a tutor for students in mathematics and physics courses. He previously served as a research assistant and presented his findings at a conference of undergraduate research in 2009. Zachary's awards include the Bert Elsbach Scholarship in Physics and placing 2nd in both 2010 & 2011 at the HPTi Program Solving Competition.
