NATURE OF WORK:

The Associate Director, Alumni Career Networks reports to the Director, Center for Career Development and is a member of the Center for Career Development team whose purpose is to prepare students and alumni to pursue successful and meaningful careers by offering innovative career planning, job search, and employment resources. The principal duty of the Associate Director, Alumni Career Networks is to visit and communicate with Duquesne alumni in other cities, and within the western Pennsylvania region, establishing concrete internship and job opportunities for students and recent graduates by utilizing the rich connections and resources of our alumni. The Associate Director is also responsible for systematically communicating internship and job opportunities to students and academic deans/faculty; following up with alumni to ensure that the University and students have reached out to take advantage of these opportunities; and measuring outcomes of these efforts based on established goals.

ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLES OF WORK:
1.Attends and participates in regional and national alumni events for the purpose of directly engaging individual alumni who are interested in providing internship and job placement to current students and recent graduates.
2.Follows up on internship/job information received from alumni and share that information in a systematic way with students (via Center for Career Development); and schools/deans.
3.Collects data regarding internship/job opportunities secured through the above alumni contacts; reports back to alumni and schools/deans about successful placements; and tabulates results on a regular basis to measure success of this outreach to alumni.
[Note: Approximately 50% of the work of the Associate Director, Alumni Career Networks should be devoted to #1, #2 and #3 above, in total.)
4.Works with the Provost, Deans, Director of Alumni Engagement and Director of Career Development to determine key priorities, programs/schools/regions for emphasis of efforts related to job and internship opportunities;
5.Collaborates with academic advisors, faculty and other program staff to assist with alumni and student career connections;
6.Serves as primary manager of an online alumni & student networking platform and the Alumni mentor program; develops marketing plan to promote students' use of the networking platform and mentorship program;
7.Manages and assigns work to a student intern;
8.Serves as primary liaison to the Office of Alumni Engagement;

REQUIREMENTS OF WORK:
The successful candidate will have earned a bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) and have 5-7 years' experience in alumni relations, career services, university development, corporate recruiting, career coaching or related work. Any equivalent combination of experience and training, which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform the essential job functions is acceptable. This includes, but is not limited to, the following: knowledge of career and internship placement processes, event planning, project/program management, and student supervision; strong verbal and written skills; organizational and time management skills; ability to interact with and engage all alumni; ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products; ability to develop interactive online resources and webinars; excellent proficiency with email, internet, and social media; ability to be fiscally responsible with budgeted resources; ability to travel, sometimes for multiple days; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the University officials, staff, students and parents; Sensitivity to the need of each individual to be treated with dignity and respect as it relates to diversity in general and the Mission of the University specifically. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires working some nights and weekends. It requires the ability to travel and enter facilities which may not be ADA compliant. Ability to carry items weighing 5-25 lbs. and stand for 2-4 hours at a time.
