Position Description

The Assistant Director of Career Services provides career counseling, as well as internship, job search and post-graduate planning assistance to students and alumni. The Assistant Director also plans career-related programs, provides job development and event coordination, participates in outreach to all stakeholders, and assists in the department’s assessment and experiential education efforts.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position
A master’s degree in student personnel, counseling, or a related field is preferred; a bachelor’s degree is required. Related experience may be substituted for master’s degree. Computer proficiency is required, including a basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of and experience with career services-related software, social media, and Publisher is a plus. Must value the liberal arts and be able to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, including students, alumni, faculty, employers, and staff. The candidate will have solid written and verbal communication skills as well as excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Child Protection Clearances
The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Background Check
For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check.
