Career Counselor position available at Penn State Altoona

Provide professional assistance to students and alumni within the area of career counseling; includes career development and exploration, job search strategies, summer employment, job fair preparation, resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn, interviewing skills/mock interviews, job shadowing, government employment, LionLink informational interviewing, networking, graduate and professional school applications. Administer and assess MyPlan career assessment instrument with students. Act as a liaison to the Division of Business, Engineering, and Information, Sciences and Technology as well as the Division of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. Collaborate as appropriate on special projects, presentations, and programs and provide supervision for career peers and interns as needed. Represent Career Services at Admissions Offer Receptions, New Student Orientation, Graduation to collect post graduation data, and Parents Weekend. Assist with alumni networking programs and career fairs. Teach CNED 100 Effective Career Decision Making course. Coordinate the Career Services social media accounts of Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn as well as update the Career Services website content. Monitor Nittany Lion Career Network and approve students’ documents posted to site and enter student counseling notes. Typically requires a Master's degree or higher in counseling or related discipline or higher plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with evening and weekends as needed. Review of applications will begin July 19, 2017.
